Motion Graphics & Animation

360VR, STUDIOTEC VR

The Denham VR experience includes a 360 animation introduction. Due to countryside location, scale and architectural style of the site, a concept was storyboarded to highlight these elements and an exterior scene was modelled. Camera paths were chosen and flyovers were rendered of the railway line, aerial view and the north orbital road frontage. These were edited in Premiere Pro where the soundtrack to the film Brief Encounter (a film made at Denham) was added, along with historical narration and immersive transitions. Onboarding, STUDIOTEC VRUX

Due to the lack of standardisation, hardware variation and large number of first time users, Virtual Reality (VR) experiences commonly include onboarding tutorials. For STUDIOTEC VR a tutorial has been created to help explain how to use the motion controllers, navigation system and interaction mechanics. The sequence includes a ‘Getting Started’ tutorial and four selectable tutorials specific to the film studio experience. Each one was produced using footage recorded from in-headset, edited by adding instructional icons and team voiceovers in Premiere Pro, and were exported as flatscreen and VR videos. Production 4.0, Weatherford

Development of a product video to explain the Production 4.0 ‘Integrated Performance Platform’. Key benefits were identified and simplified into statements that could be translated into the video. A concept was developed to highlight the products that would benefit from use of the technology and showcase the way that the software solution controls the management of data through automation and real-time optimisation. Escape Rooms, Deliveroo

Building on the success of previous food festivals, the 2019 campaign featured a more targeted approach at a key customer: The Student. A bus was purchased, converted and route planned to visit as many student unions across the country as possible. Not content to just give away free food, Deliveroo wanted to create a memorable experience and the Escape Rooms concept was shortlisted. Each room featured a series of food related problems and the last room had no obvious exit as the sofa needs to lifted to reveal a ladder to the lower deck of the bus. Category: Experiential. Turbocharging, ABB

Campaign for the launch of the A255-L & A260-L turbochargers centred around simplification of the product offering and overall brand message: Compact. Powerful. Efficient. Once determined a strategy was developed around the launch and a concept was derived from on the strapline ‘Coming to waters near you soon’. A storyboard was created and a video produced that featured stock videos of a ship propellor, movement of a ship through water (with the shark overlay) and was compiled with animated 3D models of the turbocharger units and engine bay. Sales Demonstrator, Castrol

Augmented Reality (AR) demo that explains the benefits of several friction modifiers in transmission fluid and the protection level of a car component through its lifecycle. The demo is designed to represent a clutch - when the discs are pressed together the colour changes as mileage increases. The AR demo allows the demonstrator to place the unit onto a surface, press the plunger to change the colour and a UI overlay displays the speedometer counter. The unit was designed and modelled using 3D software, and the interactive elements and iOS AR deployment were developed in the Unreal game engine. Category: AR. Marine Propulsion, WinGD

WinGD are a leading manufacturer of efficient and sustainable marine engines that utilise the low-speed X-DF gas technology. By using a supplied series of CAD files, high resolution renderings were produced and rolled out across series of comms, including web and printed media, culminating in a exhibition stand at SMM. Interactive Mirror, Barbie (Mattel)

Briefed to create an experiential display unit to promote both Barbie: ‘Anything is Possible’ and Hot Wheels: ‘Connects’ campaigns. Five Argos concept stores were selected, a unit was designed to be constructed around existing shopfitting and the promotion was installed for 2 months in each store. Interactive display units were developed allowing users to either wear Barbie outfits and take a photo or select a race track and take a photo of the winning podium. Email addresses were captured and photographs were posted to social media. Category: Interactive. Software: Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, After Effects. Copyright: Oakwood Agency.
